HAMMOCK, John Vernon 83, passed away peacefully on Feb 15, 2014. John was born in Lansing MI on Feb 20, 1930 to Doris and Vernon Hammock. As a young child, John and his parents moved to Largo becoming one of the pioneer families of Pinellas County. He attended Anona Elementary and graduated from Clearwater High School, where he played catcher on the baseball team. He began his career at the Largo Post Office when he was 19 years old and retired in 1985 after 36 years of service. John was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Thomas Marion Hammock. He is survived by son, Robert David Hammock; daughter, Sarah Beth (Gustavo) Halley; granddaughters, Kimberly Suzanne Hammock, Cassie Jean (Caleb) Naylor, Anna Francesca (Derek) White and great-grandson Wyatt Mark Naylor. A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from 6-8 pm on Wed, Feb 19th at Moss Feaster Funeral Home, 13401 Indian Rocks Rd, Largo FL 33774.
