

Born on May 14, 1923, in Waltham, Massachusetts, Dick was the son of Lillian (Flewelling) Henderson. Dick joined the U.S. Navy in 1943 and served during World War II after attending Worcester, Massachusetts Public Schools.
He married Louise Houle on August 12, 1950 in Worcester. They made their home in Worcester, where Dick worked as a bus driver and later as a fireman. In the mid-50’s, Dick went to Worcester Junior College and later to Clark University where he obtained his undergraduate and masters degrees in education. He worked as an elementary teacher in Sutton, Massachusetts and later became a principal in the late 50’s and early 60’s.
In 1962 Dick went to work for American Book Company as a textbook salesman and moved to Webster, New York. In 1973 he moved to Rye Beach, New Hampshire, and continued to work as a salesman in New Hampshire and Maine until his retirement in the early 80's.
Dick was preceded in death by his brother Bruce Henderson, his sister, Dorothy Farrrell, his mother, Lillian, and his sister Janet Houle.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Louise (Houle) Henderson of Largo, his brother Sheldon (Rowena) Henderson of Henderson, Nevada, his son Richard Knight Henderson, Jr. (Tim Pyer) of White River Junction, Vermont, his daughter Marilyn (Dennis) Bradley of New Port Richey and his son Dale (Celine) Henderson of Rye Beach, New Hampshire. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Kate (Blue) Eisele of Reno, Nevada, Ted (Ileana) Bradley of Denver, Colorado, Deke (Jordan) Bradley of Blue Mounds, Wisconsin, and Brett and Sarah Henderson of Rye Beach, New Hampshire.
A private family ceremony will occur in the near future.
