

He was born in San Francisco CA to the late H. Allen and Rachel Barris and was raised in upstate New York. Bob attended Hobart College for 2 years, he was drafted and served in the Army and later Graduated from Fredonia State University. Bob was a large appliance sales man, in 1972 he jumped at the opportunity to move to Florida, then he purchased a retirement mobile home park and was able to retire at the age of 62. Bob “Bubba” was an active member of Belleaire Country Club for over 20 years and avid golfer. He organized many events and tournaments for his “Barris Golf Group” over the years.
Bob was a loving and dedicated father and grandfather. His greatest pleasure was attending family gatherings and events for his kids and grandkids.
Bob was predeceased by his high school sweetheart and wife of 44 years, Shirley Nappo Barris, his second wife of 8 years, Janet Loper Barris and his brother William Barris.
Bob is survived by his four children, Cheryl and her husband Mark Sugel, Robert Barris JR and his wife Patty, Diane “Galt” and her husband Richard Buttner and Rachel and her husband Warren Bond. He also leaves behind his 10 grandchildren, Ian & Jacqueline Sugel, Zoe and Robert Barris, Rebecca, Rachel and Sarah Galt, Morgan, Bailey and Madison Bond. He also has four Step Grandchildren Jamy and Mike Olson, Matthew Buttner and Rachel Buttner and 2 great grandchildren Dylan and Sydney Olson. He is also survived by his very dear friend Mary Lou Tetley.
Services will be held on Saturday, January 17th at Serenity Gardens at 12:30pm, with a reception to follow at The Belleaire Country Club, 1 Country Club Lane, Belleaire, FL 33756 from 1:30 to 4pm.
