Sylvia was born on February 2, 1938 in Gadsden Alabama.
Sylvia graduated in 1956 from Emma Sansom High School in Gadsden. She was recruited out of high school to go to Washington D.C. to work for the Department of the Navy’s Bureau of Ships. During her career there, she received countless awards and recognition for her superior work. She retired to Seminole, FL.
In 1982, she married Harold Paul in Rockville MD. They were married for sixteen years until his death in 1998.
Sylvia was an extraordinarily talented woman. In addition to her successful career, she excelled in cooking, sewing and needlepoint, along with every endeavor she undertook.
Sylvia was fond of animals, as they were of her. She was especially proud of her Cherokee heritage.
Sylvia was predeceased by her husband, Harold, her parents, James and Nellie Gamble, her sister, Faustine “Tina” Gamble, brother Zaron “Bud” Gamble and her step-daughter, Allyson Paul. She is survived by her loving step-children, Steven Paul (Sandy Brodie) of Gaithersburg, MD; Stacey (Frank) Neitzel of Eldersburg, MD, and Lesley (David) Stroud of Chesapeake VA. She is also survived by her step-grandchildren, Hunter and Trevor Paul and James and Sean Stroud.
A farewell graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 at 10:00 am at Serenity Gardens Memorial Park, 13401 Indian Rocks Road, Largo, Florida. All who knew and loved her will sadly miss Sylvia. She will be fondly remembered by her many friends and the staff at Sabal Palms and The Vineyard Inn.
