Ugo was born on March 20, 1929, the son of the late Enrico and Philomena Nanni, and was predeceased by six brothers, Eugene, Edmund, Bruno, Arthur, Enrico Jr., infant Enrico Jr. and one sister Dora Genesky.
NANNI, Ugo “Spitz” 90 of Redington Shores, FL. , formerly Batavia, N.Y., entered peacefully into heaven on 11/21/2019, at his Assisted Living Home, Elmcroft Pinecrest in Largo Fl.
Ugo was born on March 20, 1929, the son of the late Enrico and Philomena Nanni, and was predeceased by six brothers, Eugene, Edmund, Bruno, Arthur, Enrico Jr., infant Enrico Jr. and one sister Dora Genesky.
Reuniting in heaven with his beloved wife of 65 years, Betty (Ward), he leaves behind daughters Sherill Desiderio and husband Al, of Redington Shores, FL. and Karen Glover and husband Baron of Pinellas Park, FL.
Ugo cherished his family, and has five grandchildren, Cellina (Vince) Ciotoli, Reece Baskin, Joey (Kelly) Pantano, Carmen (Whitney) Desiderio, and Griffen Glover, as well as his great grandchildren, Mychela Chittenden, Isabella, Lucas, and Caitlyn Ciotoli, and Leo Pantano. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Ugo was a veteran of the United States Army, stationed in Germany during the Korean War.
He was a true renaissance man, a self taught artist, he graced many family members and friends with his wonderful oil paintings. He could use a sewing machine as well as his many hand tools, and had the ability to fix anything and everything. He loved computing and collected every type of electronic technology, starting with the Commodore 64.
Ugo and Betty were avid fitness enthusiasts, snow skiers, water skiers, boaters, and world travelers, having taken over 100 cruises.
Ugo’s passion for fishing was his daily pleasure in his later years. He was known by all as the “Fisherman” and “Mayor of Redington Shores.” He met great friends on the beach that became his fishing buddies over the years. Tourists would stop by his fishing spot year after year, to check out his catch of the day.
There are no calling hours. A private family service will be held on Friday, November 29, 2019, at Serenity Funeral Home, 13401 Indian Rocks Rd, Largo, FL 33774.
