

Lieutenant Colonel Albert J. Hendley III was born June 13, 1944, in Washington D.C. He holds an Associate's Degree from the Baltimore, Baltimore, Maryland community college, a Bachelor of Science Degree from Auburn University, Auburn, Alabama, and a Master's of Business Administration from the University of Utah, Salt Lake City, Utah. He was commissioned as a Lieutenant of Infantry through Maryland National Guard Officer Candidate School Program in August 1967.
Lieutenant Colonel Hendley’s assignments during the past 25 past years of service included Detachment and Company Commander, Assistant Operations Officer, Deputy Comptroller, Appropriations Team Chief and Budget Officer, Battalion Executive Officer, and Chief of Staff. His initial assignment was as the Company Adjutant for B Company, 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Fort Bragg, North Carolina. He deployed to the Republic of Vietnam in 1970 as an “A” Team Leader and Assistant Logistics Officer, B Company, 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne). In 1971, Lieutenant Colonel Hendley returned to the United States to serve at Fort Benning, Georgia, as Company Commander of A Company, 1st Battalion, 29th Infantry Regiment; 76th Company, 7th Battalion, United States Army Infantry School; and Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 931st Engineer Battalion. He was assigned to Fort Bragg, North Carolina, in 1975. While there, he served as Assistant Operations Officer, 5th Special Forces Group; Deputy Comptroller, 82ndAirborne Division; and Budget Officer, 182nd Division Material Management Center. Afterward, LTC. Hendley was Assigned to the Presidio of San Francisco as the Chief, Special Warfare Team, 9th Readiness Region, and Executive Officer, 3rd Battalion. 12th Special Forces Group (Airborne). From there, he was reassigned to Washington D.C. as Budget Officer, Office of the Chief Army Reserve in the Pentagon. LTC. Hendley’s final assignment was to Fort Ord, California, where he served as the Director, Resource Management United States Army Combat Developments Experimentation Command and Chief of Staff, Training and Doctrine Command Test and Experimentation Center.
LTC. Hendley is a graduate of the Infantry Officer Basic Course, Special Forces Qualifications Course, Vietnamese Language Course, Defense Language Institute; Infantry Officer Advanced Course; Planning Program and Budget Systems Course; and the Command and General Staff College.
LTC. Hendley awards include the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, the Bronze for Valor, the Bronze Star with two Oak Leaf Cluster, the Meritorious Service Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, the Air Medal with Numeral One, the Army Commendation Media with Oak Leaf Clusters, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnamese Service Medal with three Campaign Stars, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Silver and Bronze Stars, the Special Forces Tab, the Master Parachutist Badge and the Army Staff Identification.
