Barbara Darlene McCrary Morgan of Las Vegas, Nevada (and formerly of Northern Virginia and Three Oaks, Michigan), was born May 21, 1949 in Chicago, Illinois. On March 7, 2024, The Good Lord unexpectedly prepared a place at the table for her. This came as a surprise to doctors, and a shock to her family. She was a loving and selfless daughter, sister, cousin, aunt, mother and grandma with a huge heart, who was always quick to compliment.
Barbara had an impressive professional career in both the government (with the FBI and the U.S. Department of Interior) and in the legal field with several law firms in Washington, DC. She also worked her entire life giving back to the church and society. Her dedication to her faith was strong and to all her students she taught at church. They all loved her and loved learning about Jesus. She exhibited the joy of the Lord in a very creative way that everyone could relate to, that always made them thirst for more. From her countless First Communion classes to her 30(+) years of service with The American Red Cross, no doubt Barbara left this world in a better place than she found it. If you met her for five minutes you would think you knew her for a lifetime, that’s the kind of impact she leaves.
Barbara was a faithful Michigan Wolverines fan and a huge sports fan overall!! Baseball and football being at the top of the list to watch, but working the Mountain West Basketball tournament was one of her all time favorites!! Her short stature, and big personality will be missed by many and forgotten by none.
Barbara was preceded in death by her loving parents, Robert and Vivian McCrary and her older brother Thomas McCrary, Sr. She leaves behind one son Melvin Curtis Morgan, Jr. (Kristen) of Clifton, VA, four darling grandchildren Tre, Raelynn, Kennedy, and Hayden, two sisters, Dr. Nancy McCrary Jones of San Diego, CA, Karen McCrary Kerr (Roree) of Montgomery Village, MD, one brother Robert McCrary of Highlands Ranch, CO, a cousin, Lorette Reed of Las Vegas, NV and numerous other cousins, nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Barbara’s life will be held on April 27th, in Northern Virginia.
