A 35-year resident of Las Vegas, Christa lived the last five years near her daughter in Ocala, Florida. With her daughter by her side, she passed away quietly the afternoon of December 16th. She was 77 years old.
Christa was born in Freiburg, Germany during World War II and after many difficult years following that war, she and her two older siblings moved to Salinas, California with their mother and American stepfather who was a member of the U.S. Army. Speaking only German, she attended Junior High School, earning high grades, and becoming fluent in English. After two years, the family moved back to Germany where Christa would meet and marry an Air Force Airman in Darmstadt. For the next twenty years, while raising two children, she was a very active military spouse.
During that time, Christa performed volunteer work for the American Red Cross as a Dental Hygienist, attended college, volunteered at her children’s school activities and was always a warm and welcoming face at numerous events. While residing in San Antonio, Texas, one of her proudest moments was on May 2, 1975, when she became U.S Citizen.
As a Medical Insurance Biller for several different physicians, Christa enjoyed her 35 years in Las Vegas. She had many hobbies including running, knitting, a variety of arts and crafts and betting on the horses. However, what she enjoyed most was spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.
Christa is survived by daughter, Karolina Wignall (husband Bill); son Stephen Rose (wife Kelly); grandchildren Christopher Wignall, Hannah Rose and Kaethe Rose; sister Elenore Ossner and nephew Axel Ossner of Landshut, Germany; former husband Arnold Rose; and many lifelong friends.
There will be a visitation open to both friends and family on Thursday, January 13 from 4:30-8:30pm at Palm Mortuary, 7600 Eastern Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89123. A private funeral service for the family will be held Friday, January 14, 2022.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Hospice of Marion County, Ocala, Florida.
