David M. Briggs, beloved father, grandfather, friend and loyal servant of Christ, passed away Monday, August 18, 2014 at St Rose Siena Hospital. Dave was born in Honolulu, Hawaii on August 23, 1949. As a baby, Dave was adopted by Theresa and Frank Briggs. Dave and his mother had a strong bond throughout his life. Dave respected, loved and cared for his mother until her passing in 2001. She was an example of a loving, generous person and Dave learned from her. He grew up in central Texas. After high school, Dave spent a few years in seminary school and joined the Marines. Ultimately, he married Mary Catherine (Cathy) Tatsch. They adopted their son, Michael and had a daughter, Michelle. After Cathy left the family, Dave became a single parent with sole custody of Michael and Michelle. He provided for them in every possible way. A loving and caring father, he worked hard to provide for his children and gave them every opportunity to succeed. Dave was always there for his children whenever they needed him even into adulthood. In the late 1980’s, Dave and his children settled in Las Vegas. Dave operated his own private investigation firm, Corporate Intelligence International, he purchased from a dear friend, former city councilman, Bob Nolen. Dave created strong friendships from day one. He was extremely active in the church as well. Dave attended Holy Family Catholic Church and his faith was strong. Dave spent countless hours helping with church fundraisers and events. He was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus and served in a number of positions, not only locally but statewide as well. Later in life, Dave was blessed to find Leona, a woman as kind as himself. They shared their lives together for ten years. Leona’s sudden passing in 2010 was devastating and left an unfillable void in his life. But he persevered and continued to do everything he could do for others until his health started interfering. Dave will always be remembered for his great sense of humor, his love of the Dallas Cowboys, his love of life, his love of others, and his generous and giving nature. He is survived by his son Michael, his daughter Michelle, and his three grandsons, Aaron, Christian, and Isaiah, all of Las Vegas. His grandsons were very fortunate to spend a lot of time with him. He loved them dearly and would do anything for them. He is also survived by his son-in-law, Christopher, who he treated more like a son than an in-law. The love so many people have for Dave is a testament to his genuine goodness. He was an extraordinary man and a true gift from God to everyone who was blessed enough to know him. The family asks that donations be made to the Knights of Columbus Seminary Fund. While Dave realized during his two years in the seminary that God had a different calling for him, he enjoyed helping others meet their calling to the priesthood.
