David Cowell, 71, of Henderson, passed away Aug. 1, 2011. He was born May 25, 1940, in Nebraska City, Neb., and was a resident of Nevada for over 20 years. He was a commercial mortgage banker, active volunteer for Christ the Servant Lutheran Church, active youth baseball coach and a member of the Commercial Mortgage Banker's Association. David is survived by his wife, Joan Cowell; daughter, Stacie Cowell (Peter Alread); son, Scott Cowell (Kerry); Joan's daughters, whom he loved as his own, Heidi McNeill and Karen Wycherley; nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 4, at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations in David's name are suggested to the ASPCA or the American Cancer Society .
