

David Heath Ostrove, 34, passed away on October 9, 2016, at his home. He was born March 14, 1982, in Stoney Brook, NY, and grew up in Setauket and Old Field, Long Island, NY. David moved to Las Vegas with his family in 1997 when he was 14 years old. He was diagnosed with hemophilia when he was 14 months old. David loved movies and was called a “movie buff” by those closest to him. He enjoyed reading and sharing his knowledge of numerous subjects in conversations and with family and friends. He gave selflessly of himself to helping others and worked with children with similar blood disorders. David was a loving son, brother, uncle, and devoted friend. He will be dearly missed. He is survived by his father, Dr. Ronald Ostrove, his stepmother, Sharlene Ostrove, brother-in-law Josh Penso, sister Sari (Ostrove) Penso, niece Charlotte Penso, nephew Joseph Penso, brother-in-law Michael Hanaway, sister Lori (Ostrove) Hanaway, and nephew Matthew Hanaway, all residing in Las Vegas. He was preceded in death by his loving and devoted mother, Jane Linda Ostrove.Other family members include uncle Mark Kleiner and aunt Heidi Kleiner, of Boca Raton, Florida, grandmother Jessica Portnof, of Lawrence, NY, aunt Marsha Warshaw of Merrick, NY, Ami Wolfe and Zachary Wolfe from La Jolla, CA, Dr. Josh Flushman from Las Vegas, NV, and numerous cousins in Florida and New York. Funeral and burial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 13, 2016, at King David Memorial Chapel and Cemetery - 2697 E. Eldorado Lane, Las Vegas, NV 89120. If you wish, donations may be made in David Ostrove’s name to the Nevada Hemophilia Foundation. King David Memorial Chapel handled the arrangements.
