Donald David Adair, 82, of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away on December 23rd, 2022. He was born on March 29th, 1940, in Buffalo, New York. As a child he loved riding his Schwinn bike, going to his grandmother’s house, and swimming at the beach. During his teenage years, Donald loved cruising around in his 1954 red and white Mercury Monterey, wearing his brown leather jacket, and listening to his favorite 1950s artist Elvis Presley. As a young adult, Donald served six years in the United States Army. He moved from Buffalo, New York to Las Vegas, Nevada in the seventies where he resided until his death.
To say Donald was a hard-working man would be an understatement as he never missed a day of work. Donald tirelessly gave of himself to provide for his family. He was a quiet man with a great sense of humor. No matter what difficult situation he would face; he always managed to find a way to make a joke and laugh. Donald could do almost anything he put his mind to. He could fix cars, assemble any objects, sew, cook, draw, make jewelry, and decorate. One of Donald’s favorite hobbies was wood-working and building waterfalls. He was truly a jack-of-all-trades.
Donald was a selfless man that did all he could for his loved ones and never asked for anything in return. He would run errands for anyone that needed something and give of his last dollar. Being a very thoughtful man, Donald would make every birthday and holiday special for his family. Donald’s true joy came from making his loved ones happy. He was very meticulous about detail and always gave everything he did his all.
Donald enjoyed listening to his favorite AM radio talk shows, swimming, reading, exercising, puzzles, magic shows, watching documentaries, doing yardwork, and going on adventure park rides even into his sixties. He also enjoyed collecting toys and posters from his childhood and displaying his children’s and grandchildren’s artwork. Like his favorite bird and only tattoo, the eagle, Donald represented honesty, strength, wisdom, and independence.
Donald was predeceased by his parents, David and Annie and is survived by his wife of forty-three years Barbara, five children, Chandra, Amanda, Donald, Jessica, and Cameron, two stepchildren, Earline and Shernet, and eleven grandchildren, Lakeisha, Darion, Amari, Ayden, Aubrey, Ambria, Ashton, Carter, Abel, Alayna, and Aleah. In the famous words of Donald’s favorite musical artist Elvis Presley, “Thank you, Thank you very much,” for being a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and son. You will be missed and never forgotten. May your soul sail peacefully amongst the waves of the ocean like on the boat you always wanted.
