Elena A Diaz

Elena Aldan Diaz was born on the beautiful island of Yap in the Caroline Islands as Helena Regina Aldan on February 19, 1937. She departed this life to meet her Maker on October 18, 2024.

Elena is the third youngest of 13 children from Joaquin Aldan and Emmanuela Crisostomo. She spent many years of her life living on the islands where she met her husband, Alfonso Untalan Diaz. Together, they raised eight children (Manuela [Frank], Felicidad [Carlos], Antonio [Kim], Norbert [Maria], Jesse [Norma], Alfonso [Denise], Mecaila [Steve] and Joaquin). Elena is loved and survived by her two sisters (Maria Sablan and Paulina Corliss), 7 children, 25 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren, 7 great-great grandchildren and many other family members, loved-ones and friends. She now joins her husband, her eldest daughter Manuela, her parents, and 10 siblings with the Lord, in heaven.

Elena was a wonderful mother and always placed her family first. She was a fierce protector, and her greatest joys in life were spending time with her 8 children and countless grand, great grand, and great-great grandchildren. She loved cooking and preparing many of the deliciously exotic Chamorro dishes, and she really enjoyed dancing, especially to the music played by her husband and children. Elena was gracefully selfless, always eager to help others even when it meant she had to do without. To the end, Elena’s smile would light up a room, and her compassion and kind soul would comfort everyone around her.

Elena was baptized at nine days old at the Church of Saint Mary in Yap, Caroline Islands. She remained devoted to the Catholic faith her entire life.

A visitation for Elena will be held Tuesday, October 29, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Palm Mortuary - Eastern, 7600 S Eastern Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89123. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, October 29, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, 7600 S Eastern Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89123. A graveside service will occur Tuesday, October 29, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Palm Eastern Cemetery, 7600 S Eastern Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89123.
