

At the age of nine, Jerry's family relocated to Ukiah, California, where he spent his formative years. He graduated from Ukiah High School and furthered his education at the University of California, first in Sacramento and then in Chico. In 1968, Jerry moved to Las Vegas with his wife, Donna, and their two eldest children, marking the beginning of a new chapter in his life.
Professionally, Jerry found his niche working in large hotels as a food purchaser for one hotel and warehouse manager for other hotels. His colleagues remember him as an honest, dependable, and hardworking individual who always approached his work with integrity and commitment.
Beyond his professional life, Jerry was a dedicated community member. He devoted countless hours as a youth sports coach, sharing his passion for baseball, basketball, and soccer with the young athletes he mentored. His friendly, caring, and helpful nature earned him respect from players and their families.
Jerry enjoyed the outdoors. He played golf most of his adult life. He also enjoyed boating, water skiing, fishing, and camping, mostly at Lake Mojave, with family and friends. He followed professional golf, college basketball, and Major League Baseball, always supportive of his favorite team, San Francisco Giants.
Jerry's faith was an important part of his life, and he held his Christian beliefs with devotion, often finding strength and guidance in them. He was a loving husband and father, deeply cherished by his family. His warmth and kindness left an indelible mark on those who knew him.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Donna Greslie Mattson; daughters, Gail Mattson Vytopil (Frank) and Dawn Mattson Lehew; son, Derek Mattson (Kristin); grandchildren, Leighton Mattson (Cleo), Kassie Mattson Gunn (James), Hayden Vytopil, Malone Lehew, Ryan Lehew; great grandchild, Rosalie Gunn. Jerry was predeceased by his parents Oscar Mattson, Alice Drahosh Mattson, his brother, Ronald Mattson and sister-in-law, Katie Mattson.
Per Jerry's wishes, his memorial service will be a private gathering, allowing his family to celebrate his life in an intimate setting. As we remember Jerry, we honor a life well-lived, filled with love, generosity, and unwavering dedication to his family.
