Gordie Saiger, 66, a native and lifelong resident of Las Vegas, passed away on June 22, 2015, at St. Rose Dominican’s Siena campus after a long fight with Leukemia. He was born April 1, 1949, in Las Vegas to Morton and Reba Saiger. Gordie graduated from Las Vegas High School in 1967, and went on to study at UNLV, where he pledged into the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He went on to enlist in the Nevada National Guard, serving several years as a tank crewman, before transitioning into the Public Affairs world as an Army Photographer. After his service, Gordie would continue with his photography work, and would eventually get into videography by working at local Las Vegas television stations. He would then break out into the national sports television scene, which led him to a long and brilliant career. Gordie travelled the world, working for all the major networks, and earning six Emmy awards along the way. He worked three Olympic games, and innumerable boxing matches, motorsports events, concerts, conventions, and other professional and amateur sporting events. While video work was his career, photography continued to be his favorite hobby. He also cherished the deep friendships he’d cultivated over his lifetime. He loved comedy, and it was his great sense of humor and charisma that always made him the center of whatever room he was in. He is survived by his son, Max; his mother, Reba; his sister, Debi Palladino; and nephews Matthew and Andy Skurow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made to The Springs Reserve at 333 S Valley View Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89107. https://www.springspreserve.org/apps/donate/index.cfml Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 6, 2015, at Palm Mortuary.
