

Herbert was born on October 28, 1947, in Birmingham, Alabama. His parents were Lelia Brown and Herbert Brown, Sr. Being an excellent student, Herbert graduated from Ullman High School in Birmingham, Alabama in 1964 at 16 years of age. Immediately after graduation, he enrolled in Howard University in Washington, DC. While at Howard, he became a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity, married his first wife and had his first child. He also began studying the Divine Principle in 1968.
From his first marriage, he became a loving and supportive father to Anthony and Carla Brown. He spent many years in the Washington, D. C. metropolitan area. Herbert retired from the Washington, D. C. Department of Labor after a successful career for many years. In addition to his regular activities, he enjoyed finding jobs for youth in the summer through the Summer Youth Program. In later years, he also worked as a Counselor at a Washington, D. C. Halfway House. He was also a beloved sponsor of several members of Alcoholic Anonymous.
Herbert remained an active member in the Unification Church in Washington, and was blessed to his current wife, Takako Brown, in the Blessing of 1992. Herbert and Takako have a daughter from this marriage, Yiyeon Brown. He and the family moved to Las Vegas in 2012 to continue to support the mission of the Unification Church.
Herbert was an avid tennis player and began playing tennis as a high school student. He continued playing the game for his entire life. He taught tennis family members who still enjoy playing the game. He also was proud of playing the clarinet in high school. With a single-focused mind, Herbert mastered any activity or goal that he put his mind to. He brought wisdom and thoughtfulness to all. He will be missed by his family and friends.
A funeral service for Herbert will be held Saturday, September 13, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Palm Mortuary - Eastern, 7600 S Eastern Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89123.
