IN THE CARE OF

Palm Eastern Mortuary & Cemetery

The Man, the Myth and the Legend. Howard (Music Man) Samuel Covington Jr. was born in Monroe, North Carolina on September 26, 1955 to the late Howard Samuel Covington Sr. and Queen Elizabeth Covington. “Music Man” found a passion in all things music. A certified instrumental genius, Howard was exceptionally skilled in many instruments including the drums, piano, harmonica and his true love of them all, the guitar. He was a music instructor too many, a lyricist who also composed songs, and a technical mastermind in audio engineering.

On Monday, September 6, 2021, Howard received a call for a universal tour that he couldn't refuse. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters Saundra Elizabeth Covington and Gwendolyn Covington.

Howard leaves to cherish his memories his loving wife Marilyn Covington, seven children; VaSean Fuqua, Gwendolyn Covington, Mischauld Covington, Mia Covington, Shania Covington, Emmanuel Covington and Angel Covington. One brother, Pastor William Covington and sister-n-law and First Lady, Julia Covington. His sister and brother in laws Lynette and Colbert Bowman, Clifton and Anna Queen. He also leaves fourteen beloved grandchildren that were the stars in his sky. He will also be missed by a host of other relatives; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles cousins, friends, along with Uno and Fifi, our family pets.

"Family was the most important thing to our dad, and he referred to us as the Covington Klan or 8 Minds.

He loved and protected us viciously and purely, and everyone who knew us, knew this. We all live on boldly and bright because of him, and our children will do the same."

Jam on forever Music, much love from all of us... 8 Minds
