Jerry Edwin Tyhurst

Jerry Edwin Tyhurst, 81, a long-time resident of Long Beach, California passed away on May 3 at the St. Martin Hospital in Las Vegas after courageously battling a long illness. He was born in Casey, Illinois on May 7, 1932 to Ora and Carrie Tyhurst. He met his soul mate for life at the age of 22 when he married Barbara Tyhurst in 1955. Jerry received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration at Long Beach State College which assisted him with developing a long career with Unocal Corporation from which he retired. Jerry also completed his Masters of Science degree in Education at Seattle University which culminated in extensive Management of Personnel positions throughout several Unocal Western Divisions. Love of life was central to Jerry. He dearly loved his family, friends and community. He loved nearly all sports, especially golf which he enjoyed playing with his many buddies, and his sons and grandchildren.

Jerry is survived by his wife Barbara; his sons Mark and Scott; and his grandchildren Ryan, Chris and Amber, all who have brought him great joy throughout the years.
