

John Morgan Gromek, 62, was a caring husband, stepfather, son, brother, uncle and friend. He passed away peacefully due to complications from multiple sclerosis on February 6, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born to John and Alice Gromek on November 24, 1959 in Tokyo, Japan. He was the second oldest and had five younger brothers and one older sister. After graduating from Los Alamos High School, John went on to work in the restaurant industry at different locations throughout the United States. He settled down in Las Vegas where he met his wife Kathy. Together, they had a wonderful life and loving marriage.
John enjoyed the outdoors. He was an avid hiker and was always in great shape. He loved camping with his family and hiking with his brothers in Zion and Bryce Canyon National Parks. He excelled at long technical hikes and his favorite spot was up in the “Narrows” at Zion. He also loved target shooting, both pistol and rifle.
John had a very determined outlook with strong convictions. He never let his opinions deter his relationships with others and always made sure to welcome everyone with open and loving arms. He was devoted to his family and friends. Those who knew John know that he was unique and had an appreciation for the small things in life.
He will be greatly missed by all.
John was preceded in death by his mother Alice. He is survived by his wife Kathy, stepdaughter Kattleya, father John Martin Gromek, older sister Stacey and her husband Rey, younger brothers Chris and his wife Nancy, Mark and his wife Jill, Mike and his girlfriend Tina, Bob and wife Monica, and Matt and his wife Stephanie. Survivors also include twelve nieces and nephews and their respective families.
A service will be held on Saturday, March 12 from 5:00- 6:00pm at Palm Eastern Mortuary located at 7600 S Eastern Avenue, Las Vegas. A reception will follow at John and Kathy’s home.
