Juana Rosa Molina was born in Santa Clara Corralillo, Cuba on December 9, 1922 and passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at the age of 90 years old. She was a resident of Las Vegas for almost 32 years. Her parent's names are Indalesio Molina and Eugenia Benitez Molina. She had nine siblings - five brothers and four sisters. She was the last surviving sibling in her family.
In 1940, when she was 17 years old, she met Miguel Camman. They fell in love and were married in 1944. The couple had four children - a stillborn baby boy, Miguelito (passed away at the age 2), Amalia, and Francisco. On Sunday, August 15, 1971, Miguel Camman passed away. Years later she married Jose Perez. Jose was a good man and took care of Juana Rosa until she came to the United States. Jose did visit her in the Las Vegas and they enjoyed their time together. Juana Rosa Molina came to the United States on Monday, August 16, 1982 and made Las Vegas her home. She has always been independent, but enjoyed being spoiled by her children, Ponchito y Amalita. Her children always made sure that their mother never went without anything she needed. They have always loved her dearly.
Abuela Rosa has always been a strong woman and took pride in taking care of herself. She was caring, loving, and special. She enjoyed eating and some of her favorite foods were Kentucky Fried Chicken. She called it "El Pollito de Viejito" and she would go there frequently with her sister, Louisa; Louisa was the only sibling she had in the United States. Another place she loved to eat at was Arby's. She called it the "La Papa Grande."
Juana Rosa was a great cook. She had certain foods that all her family members loved to eat - her meatless spaghetti, her yellow rice with sausage, and the all-time favorite of steak with sautéed onions and white rice. She was always happy to serve you a plate and sit with you while you ate.
Our grandmother will be missed but we find comfort in knowing she is with our Heavenly Father.
Juana Rosa Molina is survived by her two children, ten grandchildren, twenty-nine great-grandchildren, and one great, great grandchild.
Juana Rosa Molina lived a blessed life and we are grateful we got to share that life with us. We love you Abuela and we will miss you.
