Kalliope Malpee, 82, passed away November 5, 2021. She was born May 25, 1939, in Lesvos, Greece. She married and then immigrated to America, becoming a United States citizen in 1959, one of the proudest moments of her life. She was a resident of Nevada for 58 years.
Kalliope was a homemaker and later worked as a retail clerk in the bakery department for Von’s grocery store for 20 years. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her husband in their Minnie Winnie RV. Their adventures took them to places along the Pacific coast, Colorado, and New Mexico. She was a great cook and took pride in her garden. Kalliope was kind, caring, and was a devout Greek Orthodox Christian.
Kalliope was the devoted wife of the late Mack (Michael) Malpee, who passed away in 2019. Kalliope is survived by her son, Simeon Malpee (Kristin) and daughter Aphrodite Wirtz; her 3 granddaughters, Athena Wirtz-Grutz (Tanner), Cassandra, and Katherine; her great granddaughter, Lilliana; as well as relatives in Greece. Visitation will be Thursday, December 2, at 4:00 p.m. with a Trisagion following at 5 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, 5300 El Camino Rd., Las Vegas, NV 89118. Funeral service will be Friday, December 3, at 10 a.m. at the church. Kalliope will be buried at the Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery 1900 Veterans Memorial Dr, Boulder City, NV 89005 on Friday, December 3, at 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the St. John Building Fund.
