Kenneth Victor DiPirro, age 73, of Henderson, Nevada passed away on Friday, May 24, 2019. Kenneth was born July 22, 1945 in Buffalo, New York. Kenneth was the son of the late Dominic and Harriet DiPirro and brother to the late Donald (Joan) DiPirro. Beloved husband to Carolyn DiPirro of 48 years, father of Kenny and Stacey, and loving grandfather of Gianna and Dominic Long!!!
As a young man Kenneth, went to a catholic school and was an altar boy, as well as being a football and baseball player.
Kenneth had always loved music from a very young age!! He sang in several bands as a teenager in Buffalo!! His most notably being The Vibratos! He was married in 1971 to Carolyn and had two children Kenny (1972) and Stacey (1976)! Through the 70s, while raising his family, he worked for the Buffalo Laborers Union in the Construction Industry as well as singing in his latest band at all the big clubs around the Buffalo area!! In 1979, he wanted a change from Buffalo and decided to move his family to Southern California! He always wanted better for his family!! He became a truck driver while in California driving for Global, Bekins & Allied Van Lines!! Truck driving entails a lot of time on the road, but Ken would always be there and go the extra mile to make his kid's sporting events, even if that meant driving through the night!
One thing Ken liked to do was cook and we are not talking about putting something in the microwave! Ken was always watching the cooking channel for new recipes. From his home made pizzas to his ravioli from scratch and his delicious cakes and cannolis, it was a favorite hobby of his!!
Some of his other favorite TV shows were the Westerns, Seinfeld, The Old Superman reruns, Mob movies, and Elvis movies as corny as they were. Ken's favorite entertainer was Elvis who he saw live numerous times and met in 1970. The 90s brought his family back to the Buffalo area! Ken loved sports…he was a diehard Buffalo Bills fan and the early 90s brought much success to the BILLS just falling short of a Superbowl win!! He was also a fan of Angels Baseball and Vegas Golden Knights Hockey!! For the past 19 years Ken and Carolyn made their home here in Las Vegas!! In Las Vegas, he retired as a truck driver and drove limousines for 10 years!! As a couple they enjoyed going out to eat and frequently would try their luck at bingo games!! They also loved watching sports together, rooting on the Bills, Angels and our Golden Knights!! He loved spending time with family!! Blessed with two grandchildren he would always be going to baseball games and band concerts or whatever activities the kids were doing!!
Not giving up his love for music, he and his son started a new project in 2000, The Kenny Dee Band and for 19 years they entertained crowds at many venues around the Las Vegas area!! Most notably the house band at the Barbary Coast from 2005 to 2009 and most recently the Friday night sock hop at the Suncoast in Summerlin!! The energy and magic he and his band created will always be with us!! For he never lost his passion to entertain!!
As we are wounded by his loss, I ask you to remember Ken as a hard-working man who loved to laugh, have fun and spend time with his family and friends. Laughter was always a major part of the DiPirro household. For we will always be reminded of the many great memories that we will forever have!!
Kenneth is survived by his wife of 48 years Carolyn (Black) DiPirro; devoted father of Kenneth A. (Lisa) DiPirro, Stacey (Daniel) Long; beloved grandpa to Gianna and Dominic Long; and a brother-in-law, uncle, cousin and friend to many.
