

Laura Ann Washington was born on September 19, 1956, to Booker T. Washington and Ethel Mae Washington of Louise, Mississippi. At the early age of fourteen, she accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior. She moved to Oakland, California with her children in 1981, from Louise, Mississippi. Laura went to school for nursing in Oakland, California, and worked as a secretary for a real estate company. She then worked at Nordstrom for the majority of her life and relocated to Phoenix, Arizona while also working part-time with Federal Express. She joined Berean Church in Phoenix, Arizona in 2007, under the leadership of Dr. Fairley. Laura was a very caring person who some referred to as an "Angel" in their eyes. Laura loved to cook, overflow the refrigerator, as well as shop...shop...and shop. Laura was preceded in peace by her parents, Booker T. Washington and Ethel Mae Washington, and two of her older brothers, Booker T. Washington Jr. and Eddie Washington. Laura had three children: Kumar Washington, of Phoenix, Arizona, Cheryl Odom, of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Russ Akins of Santa Rosa, California. She leaves to cherish her memory: Lester Bracy of Oakland California, Helena Washington of Las Vegas, Nevada, Georgia Brown of Tempe, Arizona, and Frank Washington of Berkeley, California. Laura is survived by the following grandkids: Justin, Kya, Kayla and DeShaun as well as many loving nephews and nieces. Laura touched the lives of many people and will be truly missed but never forgotten.
