

Lillie Word was born to the late Vivian and Sanders Baker on May 1, 1952, in Los Angeles, California. She departed this earthly life on Sunday, September 1, 2024 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Lillie dedicated her life to serving her community as a Supervisory Family Support Specialist at the Los Angeles District Attorney Office. She retired from this position after 32 years 8 months, on May 15, 2007.
Lillie was a vibrant soul known for her creative passions including sewing, oil painting, gardening and remodeling her homes. Her favorite place to visit was Disneyland and the beach.
Educated in Los Angeles, CA, she attended Miramonte Elementary, Edison Jr. High and Dominguez High School. She furthered her education at Compton College.
Lillie leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Leah Marie Word, of Las Vegas, NV; sons, Marcus Word of Long Beach, CA and David Word of Lansing, MI; grandchildren, Marley, Cameron, Selina, Layla, Xavier, Devon, David Jr., Marcus and Lailani; sisters, Sylvia Robertson, Barbara Battle, Johnnie Rayford, Sandra Marchand, Olivia Baker, Lydia Baker and Bernadette Baker; brothers, Wendell Baker and Sanders Baker; plus a host of other relatives and friends.
