Leticia De Guzman Alfonso, born December 13, 1939 in the Province Rizal, Philippines passed away peacefully with her family by her side on January 26, 2024 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Letty, mom, grandma was dedicated to her family and her husband Manoling for over 65 years. She was a homemaker, navy wife and department store manager, but she was most proud of being mother to Jean, Wilma (Douglas) Bell and Eileen (Brian) Bangalan; grandmother to Christopher (Yazmin), Catherine, Evan and Braiden and wife to the love of her life, Manoling.
Letty lived in many places across the world as a navy wife, but she loved living in Las Vegas. She will be missed for her wit and infectious laugh and her love for her family. "I am the resurrection and the life, saith the Lord: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die." (John 11:15-26)
Her husband, Manuel, died shortly after her on February 1, 2024.
Manuel V. Alfonso, born November 28, 1931 passed away peacefully on February 1, 2024 with his family by his side.
A life well lived would define Manuel. A quiet soul who lived for his family. Manuel was born in Rizal, Philippines and survived the Japanese occupation during WWII then joined the US Navy. He served 22 years, retiring as a Chief Petty Officer. After his Navy career, he worked for the US Postal Service as a letter carrier, then in the mail service center in San Diego.
Manuel was married to his hometown sweetheart Leticia for almost 65 years. Manuel loved the San Diego Chargers, the Padres and college basketball, but the things he cherished most were the times he spent with his three daughters and four grandchildren. At family gatherings, he could most often be seen sitting back quietly enjoying the merriment. He was totally dedicated to his family and lived every day for them. Letty, his wife was the center of his world and the two of them made quite a pair. They traveled the world together as a Navy family, but settled in Las Vegas in the early 2000’s. He loved Las Vegas and especially visiting the Buffets.
Manuel is survived by daughters Jean Alfonso, Wilma (Douglas) Bell, and Eileen (Brian) Bangalan, and grandchildren Christopher (Yasmine), Catherine, Evan and Braiden.
A joint visitation for both Letty and Manuel will be held from 4-7pm on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at Palm Southwest Mortuary, 7979 W. Warm Springs Rd., Las Vegas.
