

Age 99, passed away peacefully on March 5th, 2020 in Las Vegas Nevada. She was born in Seattle Washington on March 31st 1920. The oldest of nine siblings, four sisters and four brothers, she was the last to pass. Margaret was predeceased in 2010 by her husband , Colonel Homer “Steve” Stephens USAF (ret) from Snohomish, WA. Survived by son Major Kennon Q. Stephens USMC (ret) and his wife Elizabeth in Honolulu, HI and daughter Susan E. Olmeztoprak and her daughter Emire Ann of Las Vegas Nevada.
Married in 1944 at the height of WWII, Margaret soon came to understand the duties of a military wife as Steve was deployed following flight training in B-25 bombers to India and China. After the war she convinced him to follow a career in the military and they were stationed all over the world before retiring in Las Vegas in 1974. Assignments included Gander, Newfoundland; Novato, CA; Salt Lake City, UT; and Montgomery, AL. Bangkok, Thailand was her favorite duty station as she was treated to housekeeping live-in staff, a gardener, and a chauffeur with Mercedes sedan provided by the Royal Thai Air Force. Further duty stations were Fayetteville, NC; Paris (NATO); Stuttgart, Germany and Langley, VA. Steve was the Base Commander at Dobbins AFB in Atlanta, GA for his last duty station after 34 years of service.
They bought their dream retirement home in Las Vegas which she lovingly improved and where she enjoyed having houseguests and entertaining. During their travel years to Asia and Europe she collected wonderful furniture and artwork to help decorate their home. She will join Steve at the Boulder City Veterans Cemetery where they will be interred forever after sharing 66 years of marriage.
