

Mavis E. Kopitzke Arndt went to be with her Lord on September 1, 2015. She was born in Lake Benton, Minnesota to the parents of Otto and Elsie Kopitzke on June 28, 1925. Mavis celebrated her 90th birthday this year. She married Eugene F. Arndt "Bud" on September 10, 1948. Mavis was the oldest of 8 children. Her siblings are Darleen Schesso, Laverna Schwingler, Yvonne Crandall, Orinne Jones, Kenneth Kopitake, carol Gregory and Linda Drayton. Mavis has three children, Gretchen F. Olson, Timothy J. Arndt, and Nancy A. Gifford K. Gifford as well as a great grandchild Jade. Mavis attended school in Lake Benton and moved to complete high school in Jordan, Minnesota. She worked for her paternal aunt and uncle's cafe' throughout hig school. Mavis later worked for an attorney in Shakopee, Minnesota and made relocations to California and finally settled in Las Vegas, Nevada in the mid-sixties with her beloved husband. She worked for the city of North Las Vegas in a variety of jobs. In the legal system she worked as court reporter and retired in the position of court administrator. Throughout Mavis' life she was very involved in church work. She took pride with singing in the choir and attended the Lutheran Women's Missionary League functions on a regular basis. She enjoyed making crafts for bazaars and baking desserts. Her favorite past time was crocheting, stitching plastic canvas crosses for members and making baby blankets for the newborns at church. She has cherished the family and friends she has had over the years and is grateful for all that they have done. Mavis was a member of First Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Las Vegas, Nevada. Mavis has requested that donations be given to First Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in memory of her.
