Resident of Danville, CA
Michael Robert Paul, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 29, 2021 at 2:55 pm at 78 years old. The love of his life, Jo-Ann, his wife of 52 years, his son Andrew and his daughter Pam were by his bedside. Mike was a loving and devoted husband, an especially caring and supportive father, and most of all, the best Grandpa in the world. His grandchildren will always remember Mike's famous stories that the rest of us will remember his great sense of humor. Mike was born in Brooklyn and raised in Queens, New York by his parents Herb and Adele. He attended Bayside High School, Parsons College in Iowa and received a Master's Degree at Syracuse University. Mike was a Navy JG Lieutenant and served on the destroyer U.S.S. Radford during the Vietnam War. After being honorably discharged from the Military, Mike started his 40 year career as a bond trader. Mike always gave back to his community in various volunteer positions, but he found his greatest love in retirement giving back to the Veterans. He provided guitar lessons for veterans, many of whom were suffering from PTSD. Guitar Mike, as he was known to his students, ran his program at the Concord Vet Center. Mike is survived by his wife Jo-Ann, son Andrew (Robbyn), daughter Pamela (Charles) and his three grandchildren, Annie, Zoe and Harley. He is also survived by his brother Ken (Judie), Sister Jo, and sister-in-law Gail and his nephew Adam and nieces Jennifer, Ally, Danielle, Patti, and Tracey. You can honor Mike by making a donation to the Concord Vet Center c/o THE GUITAR PROGRAM at 1333 Willow Pass Rd Suite #106, Concord, CA 94520.
