

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Mom, Grandma, and Great-Grandma, who brought immense love, joy, and wisdom into our lives. She peacefully left us on June 6, 2023, at the age of 90 surrounded by her cherished children. While our hearts ache with grief, we find solace in the precious memories she leaves behind and the profound impact she had on us all.
Norma was born on February 20, 1933, in Abilene, TX, at a time when the world was marked by its own triumphs and challenges. She was the daughter of Byrl and Anna Lucille Tucker and the second oldest of 6 Siblings. She married the love of her life James Arther Horton in 1949 and together they had 3 children, Arther, Mona, and Garry. James and Norma were married until his death in 1997. They grew to instill in the whole family values of resilience, compassion, and a strong work ethic. These virtues became the foundation upon which she built a life filled with love, grace, and countless cherished moments.
Norma was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Her dedication to her family was unparalleled, and she showered us all with boundless love, selflessness, and guidance. Whether it was preparing delicious meals, crocheting warm blankets, or sharing stories of her own childhood, she always made us feel cherished and deeply cared for.
Throughout her life, Norma touched the lives of all those who had the privilege of knowing her. Her warm smile, kind heart, and unwavering support were a constant source of comfort and inspiration to her family and friends. She possessed an exceptional ability to make everyone feel valued and loved, leaving an indelible imprint on their lives.
Her passion for life extended beyond her role as a family member. Norma became a true friend and role model for those who met her, she loved adventure and travel. In her later years, she found the most joy in becoming the “full-time live-in Nanny” of her Great Grandson Tucker and embraced every opportunity to help raise him and instill her values in him. Her creativity and curiosity were a constant source of inspiration, reminding us to live life to the fullest and find joy in the simplest of pleasures.
Her wisdom, acquired through a lifetime of experiences, served as a beacon of light, offering guidance and strength to those around her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and perseverance will continue to inspire us as we navigate our own journeys.
Norma leaves behind a legacy that will forever be etched in our hearts, and those who have survived her. While we mourn her loss, we find solace in the memories we shared and the profound impact she had on our lives. She will be remembered for her unwavering love, her infectious laughter, and the way she made each person she encountered feel like they were the most important person in the world.
In our grief, we draw strength from the knowledge that Norma is now reunited with her loved ones who have gone before her. Her spirit lives on in the hearts of those she cherished, and her memory will forever be a guiding light for us all.
A private celebration of life will be held to honor and celebrate the life of Norma. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in her name to the local chapters of the Big Brothers Big Sisters or St. Jude’s Ranch for Children, Las Vegas NV.
