Obedell Coxeff, Sr. was born and raised in Arkansas. His parents were Vera Washington and Walter Coxeff. He traveled to Portland Oregon in his early teens, where he lived most of his life. Armed with a strong belief in the Lord, Obedell was raised to implement a strong personal work ethic.
He attended Roosevelt High School in Portland, Oregon. A few years later he met the love of his life Pat (Bessie Mae Lincoln) who preceded him in death.
Obedell was attentive to Pat’s ideas for living and he charmed her and others with his gift for being able to make us laugh. A good listener and provider with a big heart, Obedell was able to bring strength, friendship, adventure and unexpected humor to the relationship. They were married for nearly 50 years!
Very much like a kid himself, Obedell was baffled by the inquisitive and creative side of his children’s personalities. He was able to direct his energy and attention towards helping his children acquire common sense skills and education. Obedell was blessed with two children, one son, Obedell Jr. and one daughter, Alasia. They were also blessed with six grandchildren, Ashlee, Jesse, Annelise, Anthony, Amani, and Eden. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Obedell was a flexible worker who was able to draw the best from others around him through his work ethic and pride. A persuasive individual who was quick to make necessary decisions, Obedell’s strengths included being able to think on his feet. He was a leader who sought reactions from his decisions. His primary occupation was a professional driver at the Tri-Met Transit Union in Portland, Oregon where he was employed for over 18 years.
Obedell was an Army veteran. He achieved the rank of Private First Class. He showed leadership qualities and could make tough decisions when he was called upon to do so.
Obedell enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in traveling across the states by car or RV, fishing all across Oregon, watching boxing, bar-b-queing and talking loud. He was content to enjoy his hobbies with others.
Obedell was a generous man who prized that same quality in others. It’s little wonder that he was so active and giving in his community. Obedell was a member of several community groups, including serving on committees for the Elks Club (Portland, Oregon). He was one of the founders of the Las Vegas Rolling Wheels RV club, and maintained membership in the Original Las Vegas Rolling Wheels RV club, the Sahara Palms (as Wagon Master), and Ebony Rose City Travelers (Portland, Oregon) RV club.
Obedell held close traditional values and as a result, faith was important to him. He was a member of McKinney Temple COGIC for over 18 years. He attended Solid Rock Christian Church, ‘A Place To Call Home’ in Las Vegas, Nevada.
