Ralph C. Zrinyi was born on January 28, 1943, in Steubenville, Ohio to Alex & Mary (Fillipone) Zrinyi. His siblings include Alex (“Dudie”) Zrinyi, Robert Zrinyi & Rosemary Zrinyi Scarnecchia. He attended Cathedral Grade School & graduated from Catholic Central High School. He married his beloved wife, Carol S. DiMarzio on February 23, 1963 at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.
Ralph loved to play & coach football. His favorite team to watch was the Pittsburgh Steelers. He coached football at St. Anthony’s School & Catholic Central High School, assisting in taking the Crusaders to the State title in 1971.
Ralph was an electrician at Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel until he relocated to Las Vegas. He was employed at the Showboat Hotel for over 15 years.
Above all things, Ralph loved his family. He enjoyed taking them on vacation to the beach. He especially loved going to San Diego & Disneyland. Ralph loved Italian food whether he was eating it or cooking it. He made the best pizza dough ever. He loved to fish, swim & garden with his wife & children. He loved to cheer on the Vegas Knights. When he became a grandpa, he was the happiest of men.
Ralph passed away quietly on March 30, 2021, at St. Rose Dominican Hospital with his family at his side. He was predeceased in death by his parents, Alex & Mary, his in-laws, Joseph & Sue DiMarzio, his brothers Alex & wife Sandra, brother Robert, his brothers-in-law, John & Donald DiMarzio & niece Debra (Zrinyi) Dascalu.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carol, children, Monica, Greg (Brita), Lesley (Patrick) & Chris (Deane), his grandsons, Nicholas, Merrick, Andrew, Bodhi & Tyler, his nieces & nephew, Denise DiMarzio, Dawn Carpenter, Don DiMarzio & Nancy Scarnecchia, his sister Rosemarie, sister-in-law Donna Collins, his uncle George Zrinyi, & many cousins.
The family would like to thank the ICU doctors & nurses at St. Rose San Martin Campus for all their loving care as Ralph left his earthly home to join the angels in heaven. Due to COVID-19 limitations, a private service for the family will be held in his honor at Palm Southwest Mortuary.
