Ricardo "Richard" Molina, 69, a long-time resident of Las Vegas passed away July 24th, 2018 at St. Rose/San Martin hospital due to complications following heart surgery. He was born December 20th, 1948 in Hobson, Tx to Santos and Inez Molina. He married Guadalupe Lopez-Plazola on August 30, 2003.
Richard graduated from Karnes City High School in 1967. Several months later, he and a friend, Gilbert Perales, drove to San Antonio, Tx and enlisted in the army for a 3 year stint on August 28, 1967. PFC Molina then went off to Fort Lee, VA where he successfully completed his Quartermaster training. The following year, May 20th, 1968, Richard was deployed to Vietnam and finished his tour of duty on May 19th, 1969. While serving active duty, he earned the Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Bronze Service Stars, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, The National Defense Service Medal and achieved the Rifle Sharpshooter badge.
His term of service ended on August 27th, 1973, Richard received his Honorable Discharge from the military and moved to San Antonio for several years. For more than 24 years until his passing, Richard worked for Unisource/Veritiv in Las Vegas. Richard loved his family and friends, especially his grandchildren, and enjoyed spending his free time with them. He always enjoyed a good (or bad!) round of golf, wagering on his favorite sports team and a nice, ice cold can of Bud Light. He was always willing to help those in need or less fortunate.
He is survived by his wife, Lupe; his daughters, grandchildren, mother and siblings. Funeral service will be held.
