Robert Michael Sweeney

Bob was born August 7, 1924 to Ray and Lillian Sweeney in Portland, Oregon. He graduated from Jefferson High and seldom missed a reunion. Bob proudly served in the US Army Air Corp during WWII from 1942 to 1945. Bob fell in love and married Marguerite Schreiber in 1948. They had 10 children and enjoyed 60 years together before Marguerite passed away in 2008.

While Bob worked for Boyd's, Folger's and MJB coffee companies he gained the knowledge and skill to start Sweeney's Gourmet Coffee Roasters in Las Vegas, Nevada along with Marguerite in 1979. This was Nevada's first gourmet coffee roaster, which they successfully operated for over 24 years as a family business. His sense of humor, warm smile and big hugs along with his gregarious personality will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his children Kate (Gary)Lowe, Terese Sweeney, Robin (Dan) Girres, Shawn (Bob) Fuchs, Peter (Donna) Sweeney, Kevin (Deb)Sweeney, Dan (Kelly) Sweeney, Tom (Kristen) Sweeney, MaryJo Cowley, Bob Sweeney; brother-in-law Joe Schreiber; 27 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and his loyal dog, Luke.

A Vigil and Rosary will be held from 3:00pm to 7:00pm on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave, Las Vegas. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 22, 2016 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 130 N. Pecos, Henderson at 10:00am.
