Robert B Weaver

He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Beverly Weaver; his daughter, Kimberly Graham; his son, Bradley Weaver, and daughter-in-law, Amie S. McCarthy; two grandchildren, Alyx Elaine Weaver and Dylan Patterson Weaver; and many close friends in both Ohio and his adopted home of Nevada.

Robert began his adventure in 1932, during the Great Depression, the son of Harold E. Weaver, attorney, and Helen Louise Weaver, who taught piano to generations of children in Leipsic, Ohio. Growing up around lawyers and musicians would create a love of music and the law would continue throughout his life, as a successful estate planning attorney and as a singer and actor in many community theater productions.

He excelled as a student, musician, and athlete, at Leipsic Public School, where he graduated with honors and was valedictorian of his graduating class. But his most important accomplishment while in school was meeting his childhood sweetheart, and love of his life, Beverly. They had been an "item" since the fourth grade.

He was offered a music scholarship, in voice, at Oberlin College & Conservatory, but chose instead to attend the University of Michigan, undergraduate and law, and become a lawyer, like his father and grandfather before him. While attending U of M, he was a member of the highly acclaimed Michigan Men's Glee Club, which at the time featured Bob McGrath, of Sesame Street fame, and other artists who would go on to perform with the Metropolitan Opera.

He had many fond memories of his time in Ann Arbor at the University of Michigan and continued the friendships and traditions established there, long after graduation. He especially enjoyed tailgating on football Saturdays, and the opportunity to root for (and complain about) his beloved Wolverines. Family members, two days after his death, could almost hear him bemoaning Michigan's lack of production in the red zone against Air Force.

After admission to the Ohio Bar, he returned to Leipsic to join the family law practice where he had a distinguished career as an estate planning specialist. In that time, he also served as solicitor for the Village of Leipsic. He retired from the practice of law in 2002 and moved to Henderson, Nevada.

He had an adventurous side, with two white water raft trips in the Grand Canyon to his credit. He also completed two New York City Marathons after the age of 50. He loved to pack up the family in Buick Electra for month long driving trips of the western United States. It was on these trips that Robert started his love affair with Las Vegas, returning almost every year from 1965 until finally moving to the Las Vegas Valley upon retirement.

Robert was an accomplished actor and singer, with notable performances as Tevya in Fiddler on the Roof, and Don Quixote in Man of La Mancha, in Findlay and Lima Ohio. He was also a member of The Las Vegas Master Singers, a community choir in Las Vegas.

A celebration of the life of Robert B. Weaver will be scheduled for some time in October, the exact date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, donations to Nathan Adelson Hospice or Best Friends Animal Society would be appreciated.
