Roel/Chief, since I checked-in to my first duty station at MAG-46 4th MAW, MCAS Miramar you were always there to motivate me until you left to PCS to Camp Pendleton, we never loose contact and we stayed in touch where ever our journey takes us, until you transfer in MEPS Sacramento. I thought you will settle and retire here but, you decided to take another assignment. I was surprised to hear from you that you are back in California. I know you wanted to hang-in more longer because you are truly a warrior. As always, our service never ends, almighty God needed warriors. He has issued you a PCS orders to guard the gates of heaven. Until we meet again. Semper Fidelis!

 We, your bffs from MCAS EL TORO, CA. just had a going away party for you last May before leaving for your new job in Italy, so were shocked to learn that in a few short months you’re back in the states with a very difficult predicament.  So difficult as it is and saddened by your untimely passing, we accept and understand that you are now in a better place, devoid of worries, anxiety, pain. May the good Lord open the heavenly gates for you my friend.

Ruel, as I call him when we were stationed together at El Toro Marine Corps Air Station from 1990 to 1992 was always having that smile all the time.  When he made the rank of Navy Chief Petty Officer,  I remember that although going through initiation, he always kept that smile.  Chief Reyes, you will be remembered as the Chief with the smile and getting thins done.   I will always remember you as HM1 Rolando Reyes and that made HMC Reyes because of hard work, loyalty and perseverance.  You are now in GOD’s care.   GOD BLESS.

I remember always seeing you smiling and leaning forward to get the mission done.  You were always happy and positive.  Your smile was infectious.  I also remember how happy you were to go to Italy and finally be close to your family.  I cannot believe that you are gone.  You served your Nation well. Thank you!  I pray for your family. I know how happy you were for the last time of your life, knowing that finally Tita Juls and Bem will be there with you.

We might not be there for the three of you esp on those times that you needed us, but you guys are always in our hearts and prayers. 

Our whole family will miss you. Dont worry about Tita Juls and Bem. Now youre with our Inda - there in heaven, no more pain, you can live now with eternal love of God.

We can talk for hours reminiscing the good old days and I like that about you. The last time we talked you mentioned to me that you are still working not for the money but just simply to enjoy life! Your eyes sparkles when we talked about your children most especially Francesca! You also mentioned about your wife Julie on how she makes you happy! You left us too soon and that is God’s will but the most important thing is that you enjoyed the life that was given to you.

Distance & time separate us but great friends pick up a conversation right away, as though it was just yesterday. He had this habit of showing up out of the blue. I seriously doubt if he will stop doing that ... in our dreams ha ha ha. There is a great lesson I learned from him. It is never too late to change. Our friends & I encouraged him to continue in the health care profession after his military career. Fortunately he did not listen to us but instead decided to work in a more exciting profession with computers. He had a dream job, working in Italy, with his wife Julie and daughter Francesca. Unfortunately it was short lived. It's never too late to change & be happy too.

I was ready to host you in Sicilia, but I was no lucky to get with you to enjoy sometime together, just like we have done since 2001 when we first meet, Chief Reyes!

   Buongiorno, How are you doing? Hope all is well.  I want to surprise you but I could not wait to tell you.  Fratello, I will be stationed in Livorno, Italy in Camp Darby.  My report date is May 9th.  I will be travelling to Bahrain this week to visit my famiglia.  And then return here in Sacramento and fly to Italy.  I’m excited to see you again Fratello.   Just want to let know.  Take care and God bless.

Hepe, as we Bahrain friends called him, was a very good friend and a brother for almost 20 years. 

We shared a lot of stories about family,  works and dreams. During the time that we worked together  he always came to my office and asked for advice about anything and he listened.  Those memories are coming back to me and I feel like I can here his voice. 

He was a kind hearted,  caring , loving, sincere and a very generous person,  aside from being hardworker.
What I admired him the most was his dedication to his family especially to his children.  He will do anything for them.

Hepe I know you are in heaven now looking after us. I what to thank you for the friendship that we had.
Your memories will be cherish forever and will remain in our hearts.

We are all saddened and deeply hurt of your abrupt departure.  Everything's went so rapidly that we could not even imagine how this true. It seems like yesterday that you were here. The jokes, the sea stories, the laughter, the daily morning coffee break with you bringing pandesal, and the potlucks are all the memories that you have left to us.  We will cherish all of these memories and it will never vanish in our hearts and minds. I thank you so much bro for all IT help you provided to us. We are deeply saddened by Roel's passing. He was always devoted to his family and friends and worked very hard to take care of them. The kind and generous way he spoke of his family always showed how much he loved them. I am forever grateful to Roel for showing us what a loving father should be and for introducing me to Julie's sister Nora who is now my wife. We will miss Rolando very much.
