Dearest Auntie Linda and the entire Hughes Family, 

Our most sincere and deepest condolences to you all on the loss of Uncle Roming. We are so sorry we couldn't be there with you as he moved on to his next journey to heaven. 

Indeed, he was a dedicated and loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and community member. We share in your sadness, but are comforted to know he is now resting with the Lord. We will fondly remember his smiling face, his gregarious laughter and, of course, his famous kaldareta. His fiery passion for his wife, his family, his siblings, and all those he loved so dearly is a true testament to Uncle Roming's character. He will never be forgotten and his memory will live on through all of you, and all of us. 

May you now Rest in Peace with the Lord, Uncle Roming. We love you always.

My sincerest and deepest thoughts and sympathy to all of you.  A family I could never forget.  Romy, who has been a father to my son Ramon, since we’ve known each other in LA.  A man who is very understanding, kind, and caring, and a “joker” too.  

I remember he was always looking after Ramon coming home from school in the afternoon, since Howard and Jerome went to the same School.  I know my son was there for your cooking.  Thank you so much, we will miss you and you’ll always be remembered.

Pareng Romy was one of the first City Councilors of Batangas City.   Pareng Romy and and I were contemporaries during the first days after the inception of Batangas as a City back in the late '60's.  He was my ally and provided unselfish support  for the endeavors of the City Engineer's Office.  

He was a gentleman first and a politician second, who saw to it that he brought the greater good for the greatest number of the people of Batangas City.

A vibrant orator  who lorded it over City Council sessions during his days.  He will always be remembered with fondly with  pleasant memories.  Again condolence to Linda and family. May his soul rest in peace.

I cannot even begin to imagine your loss. I am sorry we could not be there for you to comfort you during this emotional time. Our hearts and prayers go out to you all. We will miss Uncle Roming very much! I have so many very fond memories of Uncle Roming when we used to live in Batangas City. I will never forget his generosity and how he would always give me money as a kid. I remember that he would always look like he was angry but later realized that it was just a term of endearment. He was only joking! That was one of many fond memories I have of him. 

We love you Uncle Roming. May you rest in heavenly peace. 

Remembrances to Uncle Romy Hughes. The best Uncle/Dad. He had a much cherished and fruitful life. Wish we had more years with you.

My deepest thoughts and sympathies to dear Auntie Linda and my cousins, Karen, Sharon, Yvonne, Jerome, Howard & Rose, my cousins in law Noel, Errol, Red, Jerevi and George, and my nieces and nephews.  

Uncle Roming is the fairest and most honest person I ever met.  I know he loved Auntie Linda and all his 6 children and thankfully he also loved all his nephews and nieces.  Uncle Roming always took the time to take me places when I was young specially after my dad passed away in 1989.  One memorable event I would like to share is when uncle Roming ran for Congressman in our home town of Batangas.  His passion to serve the people of Batangas led him to be apart from his family and we became his “2nd family”.  For weeks we would campaign all over Batangas District 2, which would require him to wake up early or sleep very late or both.  I did not see him raise his voice to anybody.  He would always deal with any situation in a very calm and positive way.  Although the election result was not favorable to him, he explained to me “Elek, it’s just part of life”. 
 Another unique experience I have with him is when he went with me for my pamamanhikan (asking for blessing in marriage from Kathleen’s family). I thought I was asking him for a (Hughes favor) huge favor since my mom cannot come, but he assured me that he was happy to do it as he did not experience this with any of his children.  It was truly a bonding moment for us.  

Uncle Roming, I cannot say all the countless good deeds you have done for me and my family, and I will always be forever grateful.  I/We will truly miss you uncle Roming and you will always be close to my heart/our hearts.  Say hello to my dad and cheer in Kobe’s games in heaven.



Tito Romy, rest in heaven’s glory.  You will never be forgotten and will always be in our hearts.

Mrs. Linda Hughes was hermana on 2006-2007 and regular adviser of the BCSND. Her husband, the late Romeo Hughes, and the  family are active members up to now.

Auntie Linda & cousins, sorry we can’t be with you  at this most difficult time  but we are  sending you our love and prayers  and virtual hugs for everyone.  We are mourning  with you because  he was like our second Dad.

The Batanguenos USA was founded in 1988 and Romeo Hughes was first elected as President in 1991.  He was President for a total of 10 years and one of the driving forces and active adviser of the organization.  We will always be in grateful appreciation for his invaluable contribution, guidance, and support.
