ROSLYN SMOLEN Roslyn Grippo Smolen, 79, a retired jewelry store owner and operator, of Las Vegas, passed away Monday, Sept. 3, 2012. She was born July 25, 1933 in Beacon, N.Y., and was a resident of Nevada for over 45 years. She was a member of the Las Vegas Philharmonic, Public television System, and the Harry Reid Re-Election Committee. She loved to dance to the music of Jerry Tiffe. She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Smolen; and her parents, Jimmy and Frances Grippo. She is survived by her companion, Roy Dansereau of Las Vegas; special cousin and friend, Charlene Petsch of East Schodack, N.Y.; special friends, Debbie and Jerry Johnson of Las Vegas; cousin, Frank (Ann) Collacini of Clearwater, Fla.; many other family members and friends; and faithful four-legged companion, Jill. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 6, at Palm Mortuary-Downtown, 1325 N. Main St. Burial will follow at Palm Memorial Park.
