From the first time we met Uncle Nino, he’s always been so sweet, humorous and kind.  He welcomed us into his home and treated us as family without hesitation. My daughter Mia knew him as Papa and she enjoyed seeing him with Auntie when we would visit. Uncle Nino, you will definitely be missed. 

Our sister, Ate Lucy always talks highly about you. We can see how much she is still in love with you all through those years. We appreciate all that you did to make her happy.
Your making an effort of visiting our parents every time you went home to the Philippines was greatly appreciated.
We want to convey our gratitude for opening your home to us every time we came for a visit.

 Kuya Nino  is my brother in law. A man of gentle spirit and a smile on his face. He was a hard working man but will make time to entertain us when we visited them and still find time to do their extra jobs. My experience of camping was with his family. I have a total of 2😊. I never saw him angry. He treated us with love. My husband , Ricky, told me a few times how he courted ate Lucy and how they enjoyed singing together. I feel very comfortable staying in their home. 
May our Lord Jesus Christ  continue to give you ate Lucy , Eric and Leila peace and comfort. Love the Arquileta family.

I never got to officially meet Rufino Orcullo Arquileta. But I have gotten to know his son and daughter. And from what I can tell from these two wonderful people, he was an amazing father and husband. Just from watching everything from a distance he was very loved and returned the love to it's fullest. I know he's in a better place now, away from suffering a chaos of the modern world. I know he will be watching his family from a distance, keeping them safe and rooting them on in their everyday life.
Rest in peace Rufino Orcullo Arquileta.  You will be missed but never forgotten.

There's so much I wish I could say to you and so much I wish I could hear. Everyday I have a hard time believing you're gone and think that one day you and mom are going to both walk in together to see our girls. I wish you could see all of your grandkids grow up, I wish our girls can have their memories of you and wish I could just hug you one more time. If I'm glad for anything, it's that you got to see my kids and  got to spend time with them like you did with Maya and Maddie and I'm glad that yeah, I know, we'll all be together soon. I love you so much, Dad! Thank you for teaching me, and for showing me what I needed to do to be a good Father. I'll always have you in my heart. Please just watch over us. I know you will because you won't wanna miss out on watching your grandkids grow up!   I'll always miss you!

I agree with James, Nino had a great sense of humor that no doubt passed to his kids. I was lucky enough to grow up with this family living down the street, having countless memories and most of them involving laughter. Nino was caring, thoughtful and welcoming to all of us. I remember Leila had a voice recorder and would tape everyone joking around in the kitchen and living room on random days. She would play it back and we would dissolve in to fits of laughter. Nino was also a fantastic cook, I remember the first time I had the corned beef he made, a simple recipe, but it was like the sky opened up and light shined on that stove. I still make it that way too! There were times that I really needed these interactions and these good people growing up, having a stable and happy family nearby that was supportive of anyone who needed help-- they never hesitated. For this I am eternally grateful. I am so deeply sorry for your loss and I wish I was there to hug you all. No energy in this universe is ever really gone, just less orderly. He'll always be with you.

One of my fond memories is his humor.  He had the gift to make you laugh.   As an example I’d like to share a story from a number of years ago in Redmond.  He had tasked Eric with removing a large opossum that had snuck into the garage to snack on the cat food.   I remember scrambling to help Eric catch the angry hissing creature with nothing more than a couple long handled yard tools.  Ultimately we did catch it, but not without causing it to play dead. That is when Rufino made the funniest suggestion, that we bring it in the house to make adobo.  Perfectly timed and well played.  I will miss his humor.
