Sable grew up in Leavenworth, Kansas, and attended the Leavenworth School District, where she made a multitude of lifelong friends. From a young age, she had an adventurous spirit and a curious mind. She enjoyed cuisine from all over the world, finished a book nearly every day, and embraced her love of anime and cosplay early on.
After graduating high school in 2007, Sable pursued studies in art and marketing. She went on to build a successful career in social media marketing in Las Vegas. Known online as “Sable the Ninja,” she was also a beloved content creator who shared fun, engaging anime videos and was an active member of the cosplay and anime community. Her passion led her to speak on panels and at conventions, where she connected deeply with fans and fellow creators.
Sable had an insatiable love for travel and global cuisine—she proudly considered herself a “foodie.” Her dream was to move abroad and teach English in Japan, a country she held close to her heart.
Sable was full of light. Her sweet soul and radiant smile touched people everywhere she went. She was deeply loved and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Charlotte and Frank Monroe. She is survived by her father, Ronnie Monroe, and his wife Leah; her mother, Michelle Monroe; her grandmother, Dollene Whitley; her brother, Daniel Monroe, and his wife Shelby; her sister, Samara Hurtt, and her husband Justin; her nephew, Camden; her aunt, Janeen Murrell; her uncle, Daryl Brown; and numerous other family members, cousins and dear friends she loved with all her heart.
In true Sable fashion, she did not want a traditional funeral. A Celebration of Life will be held on August 15, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at J.W. Crancer’s in Leavenworth, Kansas. Please wear denim and/or white, as blue was Sable’s favorite color.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to UCLA Health Jonsson Comprehensive Center for thyroid cancer research.
