Santos Delgado Gutierrez passed away on February 21, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on July 24, 1946, Santos lived in Las Vegas, Nevada. Born on July 24, 1946 in Mexico, Santos Delgado Gutierrez was the second child in a family of many more to come. As the eldest brother, he learned at a young age how to step in and become a protector to his younger siblings. And learned how to become a better father than his own. He left his native country and immigrated to the United States looking for a better life for himself and the family he left behind, often sending money back to them. He worked in forestry as a tree planter in Oregon. Eventually he started working at the mushroom plant in Salem, Oregon. There he met Maria Efren Saldaña and a couple years later she agreed to be Maria Efren Delgado. He created a family of his own with her. They had two daughters. They also welcomed several extended family members throughout the years into their home. Santos embraced fatherhood, even becoming a stand in father for some. In 1990 Santos moved his family to Atlixco, Puebla Mexico so that his girls could experience their heritage and better learn Spanish. There he worked in the family business until they moved to Waxahachie, TX a couple years later. In Texas he worked a couple janitorial jobs at the same time. He went on to work at Scarborough Renaissance Faire. He started as a grounds crew member and went on to be so much more. He loved it there and most of them loved him back. One cherished coworker described him as, "worked heavy equipment like Rembrandt painted. " He left the job he loved so much for Las Vegas, NV where he worked janitorial services again. But it meant he was with his grandchildren that he cherished so much and also surpassed his own father's skills at being a grandfather. Pampa. He passed on February 21, 2026. He follows his parents and a younger sister. He leaves behind his wife of 55 years, their two daughters and grandchildren. He also leaves behind the sons he collected and countless lives he touched along his journey here. He is survived by four sisters, two brothers and nieces and nephews in both Mexico and the United States. He lives on in the family he created for himself and loved so deeply. He was described as the strong silent type. But that was only if he didn't trust you yet. And you knew he loved you if you could recount his many tales by heart. He was simple in a complicated way to many. With his tattered pants, colander like shirts and seen better days shoes he gave a gigantic middle finger to appearances and did life his way. He will live on in our memories as the one armed man who enjoyed his coffee with a whole pie and a fork because cutting a slice just slows down the process.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Palm Mortuary - Eastern, 7600 S Eastern Ave, Las Vegas, NV 89123, US, on March 17, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.
