Doug and I were very sorry to learn of Seaynoah' s death.  Seaynoah and I were classmates and friends, and Doug was quarterback of the football team.  We always looked forward to Seaynoah coming back to Sallisaw to play football every year after his family moved away, and enjoyed visiting with him at reunions thru the years.  He, Ed Stites and Paul Dudley were like the 3 musketeers, if you saw one, then the other 2 were close behind.  I know you miss him and offer our condolences.

Seaynoah was the grandpa I never had. He blessed my family in many more ways than one. I will forever be grateful for the love he gave me and all of the memories I will hold and cherish forever. 

I remember being a little girl and anywhere we went, I would look for Seaynoah because of his white hair. I would go to him and Helen’s house and stand on the fireplace to sing my little heart out. Seaynoah told me I was pretty good but I needed to learn to use my own voice instead of trying to sound exactly like Carrie Underwood or Shania Twain.

I remember being little and sneaking out of my own house and running to his house. He would always tell me that I’d look through the window and use my finger to tell him to come outside. He would come outside and play with me all of the time.

I remember being in middle school and high school, going to their house. They would always want to know about my life and what was going on. I will forever miss those days. 

Seaynoah and I were walking buddies. We would walk the neighborhood together and go to the park. I was so young and always wanted to take walks with him. I remember being in Hawaii and walking the beach, he was so happy I walked all the way to the end with him. 

He always said I was so important to his life, but honestly I think he was more important in mine. I would not be who I am today if it was not for Seaynoah and all he did for me. Not even just through doing things for me, but making me believe it was important to work hard for what you want in life. He had a huge impact on teaching me to be generous and kind. 

I will forever miss those days and forever miss the memories him and I shared. He is someone I hold very near and dear to my heart. I will forever be grateful for the times we shared and all that he taught me. Seaynoah meant the world to me.

I’m sending love and strength to the family during these times. My heart goes out to all. May he rest and live in peace.

It breaks my heart to hear of Seaynoah’s passing. He and Helen were my “grandparents” growing up and throughout my early adult life, and they helped shape so much of who I am.

Seaynoah showed up for me in ways that mattered. He listened to my stories, paid attention to my life, and made me feel like I was worth his time. He taught me how to drive, gifted me my first car, and helped send me off to college.  Amongst so many other things… After my father passed, he stepped in without hesitation and helped carry me through everything that followed, taking on responsibilities and guiding me through things I was not ready to handle on my own.

He was a man I loved and looked up to. Many of my favorites memories from my childhood involve him. As I lived just two houses down, we spent much time together... Him “fixing” me breakfast and reminding me to keep my hands on the counter as I was “liable” to get butter all over his chairs. Him handing out soda pop and beef jerky to all of us neighborhood kids while we played outside. Him, Helen, Aileen, and Gary sitting patiently as my siblings and I put on our “concerts” in front of the fireplace like it was the biggest show in the world. The trip to Reno to see if UNR was where I would start my next chapter. The weekend in-n-out double doubles we shared so often (he never understood why they put the napkins over the fries, as it got grease on them) or the rib nights we’d have every Thursday at the village pub… Those moments stick with me because they were real and full of his presence.

Our relationship was not perfect, especially toward the end. It became harder in ways I wish it had not. But even in that, he was still someone I loved, and someone who meant a great deal to me. I hold onto the man I revered as grandpa, as that is what he always was and will be to me. 

My heart goes out to Helen, Shane, and Laree & anyone else who hearts are impacted by his passing. 

May he rest in peace.

I was so sorry to learn of the passing of Seaynoah.  He and Helen were such a blessing to my life and  they did so many things for my Mom during her later years that helped make her life so much better.  My thoughts and prayers are with  Helen and Shane.
