Susan Sannapieco

June 28, 1946-July 16, 2016

Judge Susan Williams Scann (Scannapieco) went home to heaven on July 16, 2016. She was born in Riverdale, Maryland and grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah with her parents Philip and Mary Williams and her four sisters.

She received her B.A. Degree from The University of Washington in 1968 and later received her Juris Doctor from California Western School of Law in 1976. While there she served on the Law Review and authored case note Tucker v. Lassen Sav. & Loan Assn. After passing the bar in California and Nevada, she moved to Las Vegas in 1977 to start her career at the Law Firm of Jones, Jones, Bell, Close & Brown (now known as Fennemore Craig Jones Vargas). She later became partner at Deaner, Deaner, Scann, Malan and Larsen (now known as Deaner, Malan, Larsen and Ciulla). In 2010, Susan was elected as an Eighth Judicial District Court Judge, fulfilling a life-long dream.

Susan married Bob Scannapieco, a local musician and teacher, in 1980. She is survived by her husband Bob, son Brian, daughter Kathryn Scannapieco Colwell, son-in-law Ronald Colwell, grandson Christian Colwell, and her sisters Sharon Wehan (Salt Lake City, Utah), Mary Lou Greenwald (Marty) (Corona, CA), Melanie Fake (Mike) (Danville, CA), and Joanne Mills (Bart) (Atlanta, GA).

Susan was an active parishioner at St. Francis de Sales parish and member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Susan was cherished and treasured by her eleven nieces & nephews. Her unrelenting love for family & friends will be sorely missed.

A viewing and rosary will be Saturday, July 23rd at 1:15 pm followed by the Memorial Mass at 1:45 pm, both to be held at St. Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church 1111 Michael Way, Las Vegas NV 89108. Burial service will take place at Palm Cemetery 7600 S. Eastern Ave., followed by a luncheon at Msgr. LaVoy Hall. The family asks that donations, instead of flowers, be made to either St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church or The American Cancer Society in honor of the beloved.
