Susan H. Smith, Esq. passed away unexpectedly April 7, 2012 after an illness. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. April 16, 1949. Being an adventurous person, she moved out west to Denver, San Diego, and then Las Vegas in her 20's. She found a home in Las Vegas but loved to return to the beach, most particularly Coronado Island, every chance she could. Susan was employed as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Thomas J. O'Donnell and as executive director of the Clark County Pro Bono Project, winning the Clark County Woman of Achievement award in 1992. Because of her love of education, she was a teacher most of her career, teaching high school history and government at Southeast Career Technical Academy (SECTA) until her passing. Susan dearly loved her friends, students, and her two children, Courtney Smith and Brett Smith of Las Vegas, relishing the time she spent with them. She was especially proud of her children. Susan will be missed by her loving K-9 companions, Mr. Sox, Puddles, and Panda. Susan will be remembered as a passionate, loving and loyal friend and mother. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Sunday, April 15, at King David Memorial Chapel, 2697 E. Eldorado Lane, Las Vegas. Burial to follow at King David Cemetery. Susan was very fond of animals and adopted her loving puppy from Henderson Animal Shelter. Donations may be sent to the Henderson Animal Shelter in Susan's name, c/o Henderson Community Fund.
