Thelma C. Boyd, 73, of Las Vegas, passed away on October 22, 2014. She was born on August 31, 1941, in Thomson, Georgia. Thelma was retired from the Anchorage School District where she worked for 19 years as an administrator and high school principal. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jabus and Ruby Mae Cummings. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Sammie Boyd; daughters, Della Boyd (Tony Weatherly) of Las Vegas and Dr. Andrea Boyd of Chicago; siblings, Juanita (Moses) Wheeler of Thomson, Georgia, John (Mia) Cummings of Stock Bridge, Georgia, Eddie Mae (Nathaniel) Collins of Atlanta, Georgia, Dr. Shirley Reams of Ellenwood, Georgia, and Sandra Scott of Las Vegas; grandchildren, Dre Lynn and Terrence; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. A visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00p.m. on Wednesday, October 29. A funeral service will be held at 8:30a.m. on Thursday, October 30, both at Palm Eastern Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Avenue, Las Vegas, Nevada 89123. Burial will follow immediately at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive in Boulder City, Nevada.
