Zenda, born on January 12, 1944, in the small town of Ransom, Kansas, embarked on her final journey on January 29, 2025, in Las Vegas, Nevada, following medical complications. Her story is one of passion, resilience, and an unwavering dedication to her family and community.

Zenda's early years in Ransom were steeped in the love and guidance of her parents, Marvin and Phyllis Pearce, both of whom predeceased her. She grew up alongside her siblings Charles, Rosalyn, Michelle, LoRee, Roger, Brent, and Sam, who survive her and continue to honor her legacy. Her education at Ozark Bible College set the foundation for a life filled with faith and a commitment to serving others.

It was with great joy and a spirit of entrepreneurship that Zenda ventured into the world of culinary arts, working mainly in restaurants. Her passion for food and people culminated in the ownership of her own restaurant in Pinedale, Wyoming, from 1986 to 1991. This establishment wasn't just a place to eat; it was a gathering spot where Zenda's warmth turned patrons into friends and her dishes into memories.

Outside of her professional endeavors, Zenda was an avid cake decorator and jewelry maker, channeling her creativity into beautiful, tangible expressions of her inner artistry. Her cakes were not only a delight to the palate but also a feast for the eyes, often becoming the centerpiece of celebrations. Her handcrafted jewelry, each piece a labor of love, will continue to adorn and cherish those lucky enough to own a creation by Zenda.

Zenda's life was also defined by her devotion to her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Earl Houghton, and together they built a life rich in love and shared experiences. As a mother to her son Brian Houghton and daughter Cindy Houghton, she instilled in them the values of kindness and determination. Her grandson Timothy Houghton was the apple of her eye, and she nurtured him with every ounce of her being.
