Dewey George Nunley

On January 30, 2025, Dewey George Nunley was called home at the age of 89 in Austin, Texas. Dewey was born December 22, 1935 in Pampa, Texas. During his childhood, he and his family lived in various Texas towns where he perfected his Texas accent. He graduated from Lefors High School and attended Frank Phillips College and The University of North Texas.

After getting married, he and his wife settled in Hamlin, Texas where he began his first plumbing business. In 1966, they moved to Austin where he began working for ACI (Air Conditioning, Inc.) and quickly rose to the position of Vice President within the company. During the course of his life, he was a master plumber, mechanical contractor, business owner, and commercial homebuilder.

Dewey’s legacy can be found in many buildings around Austin as he had a part in the construction and/or remodeling of The Texas Swim Center, Jester Dormitory, Frank Erwin Center, and several Austin-area schools to name a few. He ended his career as a custom home builder along with his son, Brent.

Dewey’s sense of humor always put a smile on people’s faces. His love of nature and outdoors showed in the photography and paintings he created. He was a great golfer and loved to watch UT sports. He found joy in spending time with family and his grandchildren, watching them play sports and perform.

Dewey is preceded in death by his wife Donna and his little sister, Carolyn Price. He is survived by his three children, their spouses, and his four grandchildren, Amy (Phil), Meredith (Darren), Brent, Madeline, Brody, Jackson and Madison. He is also survived by his beloved dog, Lady.

We want to thank the many people who loved and cared for our dad including Cedar Ridge Alzheimer’s facility and Comforts of Home Hospice. And of course we are grateful to our dear family friend, Margot Koslan.

A memorial service for Dewey will be held Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, 1200 S. Bagdad Rd., Leander, TX 78641, with a reception to follow from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
