Tonight, I am remembering my older brother, Don, with one of his favorite beverages, a cup of Dilmah Uda Watte tea with a touch of Round Rock Honey.  

Over the past couple of weeks, the memories have been flooding back.  Don was quite a rascal when we were growing up together.  There was the time when, as young children, he and I ran around the house one rainy day, tearing the "Do not remove under penalty of law" tags from every pillow and cushion in the house.  Then we sat obediently waiting for the police who never came.

Those who knew Don recognized that he was an intellectual polymath, capable of speaking knowledgeably on a multitude of subjects, even at a young age.    Conversations with Don were lively, fascinating, and oftentimes challenging, but never condescending.   This was one of the many characteristics that drew people to love and appreciate him, and those who knew him will miss having the opportunity to share in those discussions again.  I always loved Don's explanations of how things worked.  Together, we often speculated how ancient architects were able to build stone monuments with engineering clearances within micrometers.  

When Don began working as a background actor in New Mexico, his interesting conversations drew a number of people to respect his intellect and enjoy his company.  With his passing, many have expressed how much they will miss him.

Don deeply loved his wife, his children, and his grandchildren.   His impact on the lives of his children and grandchildren is profound, and they are the legacy that he leaves behind.  No doubt, the world is a better place because of his love and the principles he instilled in them.

Don had a kind heart, a gentle spirit, and a passion for the natural world.  Those who knew him and loved him will forever miss him.  Go with God, my dear brother, and rest in eternal peace.

Don was my neighbor and my friend for many years.  I remember surviving the snowpocalypse with him and  Pat.  He would text every day with ideas on how to save our hot water heater or some other thing. And I cherish the time that my partner and I spent with him and his lovely wife in Kuai, feeding the chickens, swimming with sea turtles, and just chatting about life.  Don had so many great stories and the biggest heart of anyone I know.

I knew Don for many years through our model club in El Paso . He was a honest straight forward gentleman.  It was my great pleasure to have him as a friend. Mike King.

I've known Don for 35 years and he was always a person who treated others with respect. A very intelligent man who a person could have a tempered and good conversation with no mater the subject. 

He will be missed greatly. We shared a love of building models and were in the same club together for many years. He was a true gentleman.
