Geoffrey Robert Leighton

Geoffrey (Geoff) Robert Leighton was born August 3, 1959 in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine. He passed away on November 6, 2022 at his home in Leander, Texas with Dawn and Chrysty by his side after a short battle with pancreatic cancer.

Geoff and Dawn met at Bryant College in Rhode Island in 1978, where he appeared out of nowhere to help her fix her car, Clarabelle. After graduating with a business degree in accounting, Geoff moved to Texas to join Dawn who moved 6 weeks earlier. On September 11, 1982, they were married in New York and celebrated their 40th anniversary this year. Chrysty was born in May 1984, completing their little family. In 1986, they moved to Leander where they created their forever home.

Geoff worked for Weed Instruments/Ultra Electronics in Round Rock in various financial leadership positions for 32 years, retiring in 2019. He felt very strongly about being loyal to his company.

Upon retirement, he enjoyed tackling all of the chores around the house and yard that he wasn’t able to do during his working years. He could look at a YouTube video and fix anything quite meticulously. He loved old cars, going to the beach with his family and traveling with Dawn. The best thing they ever did was gift Chrysty and her family 2 acres of their property so that she could build a home right next door. The last 2 and a half years have been a blessing allowing Geoff and Dawn to spend so much precious time with Chrysty, Frank and their grandchildren. Geoff, Dawn, Chrysty and Frank were also in the process of building a beach vacation home together in Port O'Connor, Texas. Geoff took pride in giving his best to everything he did. He rarely asked anyone for anything, but would always be the first to jump to help when someone needed it.

Geoff was a member of The Journey Bible Fellowship for the last 10 years. He really found his church home there and was proud to be baptized in August of 2017. He served as part of the Welcome Team greeting members and visitors. Through Journey Men, he continued to grow his faith. He absolutely loved going to the fire pit bright and early on Saturday mornings where he made a lot of connections with Godly men who helped mentor him on his journey. He also took pride in being a volunteer in the ministry Kids Outdoor Zone (KOZ), which is designed to mentor fatherless boys towards Christ while teaching them about the outdoors. He was so excited to finally have Bruce join him this summer, as it really meant a lot to him.

Geoff is now reunited in Heaven with his dad, Robert Leighton; sister, Karen Fink and brother, Mark Leighton. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Dawn; daughter and son-in-law, Chrysty and Frank Lockhart; grandchildren, Malcolm, Addison and Bruce; mother, Shirley Clark; special daughters and their families, Susanne Jacobsen of Denmark, Sandra Schulze of Germany and Sigrid Madland of Norway; and many other family members and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 19, 2022 at 2:00 pm at The Journey Bible Fellowship in Leander. For those family and friends who are unable to attend, the celebration will be live-streamed on the Journey's Facebook page. We encourage the people who loved Geoff to come to honor him, share their favorite stories of him and eat and drink a few of his favorites; apple pie, vanilla ice cream and coffee!
