Joyce was born to Clarence and Evelyn (Eimann) Lorenz in Chappell Hill, Texas on June 13, 1941, the oldest of their four children. The family moved to College Station in 1946 and Joyce remained a resident of Bryan-College Station throughout her lifetime.
Having lived a long and full life, Joyce was a beloved daughter, sister, companion, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She touched many lives and saw few flaws in others, focusing on each person’s best qualities. She made time for those she loved, carving out both individual time and time for family gatherings. Joyce set a good example. She was always perseverant, hardworking, disciplined, honest, kind, loving, and strong. She was present in our lives suiting up for many a ball game, dance recital and school function. There were paper routes, dogs, birthday parties, motorcycles, teenage mishaps, family vacations, camping adventures, confirmations, baptisms, marriages and funerals. She adored her sisters, children, and grandchildren and was so very proud of each of them. Joyce was always present, always cheering on those she loved, always offering her support
Joyce also enjoyed reading, the outdoors, and Our Saviour’s Luthern Church. She attended Our Saviour’s Luthern Church from childhood throughout her life. She was an avid reader often completing more than one book per week. Throughout her life, she enjoyed outdoor activities-camping, fishing, hiking, and water skiing. She and Henry spent many summers as hosts for the National Forest Service in Idaho. In retirement, Joyce enjoyed gardening. She spent time each day with her plants, flowers, and vegetable garden.
