Robert was born in El Paso, Texas on January 4, 1952, to the late Jose Andres Amparan and Natividad Lopez Amparan. He graduated from Eastwood High School in 1970. He was an Eastwood Trooper all the way. His friends all called him “Ampi” or Bobby. He participated in all sports at Eastwood High School. His number on the football team was #31. Robert was awarded the “Outstanding Achievement Award” for 120-yard-high hurdles and 440-yard relay for the 1970 school year (All District Award). His classmates loved him and often said “he could run like a deer”. He was witty, funny and a friend to all his classmates that knew him.
After graduation, Robert received several football scholarship offers and chose to attend the University of Colorado in 1971. Of course, he has always been an avid Colorado Buffalo fan. After college he returned to El Paso, Tx and worked for El Paso Natural Gas for many years. He moved to Austin, Tx in 1985 and accepted a job with Apple Computer. He met and married the love of his life, Heidi Beth Skelton in 1993. They resided in Pflugerville, Tx together for 30 years.
Throughout his life, Robert always loved the El Paso desert, traveling, fishing, photography, camping, sports, gardening, and the Texas coast. He introduced his grandson, Wyatt, to many of his hobbies at a young age. They continued to share these experiences during his lifetime. Most of all, he loved spending valuable time with his family and friends. He always looked forward to large gatherings during the holidays with all the people he loved so much. Most importantly, he loved to joke around and make people laugh. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose Andres Amparan and Natividad Lopez Amparan; sister, Norma Barron; sister, Toni Amparan; and niece, Sylvia Barron.
Robert was the youngest of three children. He is survived by his wife, Heidi Beth Skelton; his daughter, Heather Holmes and husband, Jeremy; and grandson Wyatt Fulkerson of Leander.
